Aortic Valve Stenosis and the Adult Patient

Also known as left ventricular outflow tract obstructions, the forms of aortic stenosis include valvar, in which the obstruction is caused by an abnormal aortic valve, subvalvar, in which the narrowing occurs within the left ventricle outflow tract below the aortic valve, and supravalvar, in which the narrowing is in the aorta itself, immediately above the valve.
